Barn doors for the Hall!

Posted on

After what seems like years of discussion, we finally were able to get barn doors up between the main hall and kitchen.  They will allow for more privacy between events in the Hall and kitchen activities, keep noise down etc.  This would not have been done without the skilled assistance of local volunteer extraordinaire Brad Bacon and the amazing shop and advice of our local muse Jack Lundgren. Also a shout out to Parker Bacon for putting in solid time in getting these doors hung!

Springs Hall in action!!

IMG_9912Following the devastating fires that began nearly a month ago, the Springs Hall, in partnership with local chef extraordinaire Sheana Davis of Epicurean Connection, agreed to a two week run as an emergency food distribution center.  Food was donated by local and regional chefs, as well as by Facebook corporations kitchen, and provided, literally, thousands of meals over this two week period.  This allowed for another opportunity to show the service of the Hall to our community in a time of need.  Thank you Sheana, Facebook, all the chefs, and the amazing group of volunteers!!! Together we will recover and rebuild.

Time to Renew or Join!

Now that our renovation is virtually complete (new roof still to come, though), and we’re open for business, it’s time to renew your membership or join for the first time. Membership is $45.00 annually, with a couples rate of $65.00. Your money goes to a good cause — keeping this historic structure open and useful for the Springs community.

It’s easy to do. Just download this PDF file, print it, fill it out, and send it in. You will be glad you did.

Community Kitchen is Looking GREAT!

Posted on

Our wonderful Community Hall volunteers prepared a delicious lunch for the Rotary Club of Sonoma Valley at their March meeting, showing off the “Sonoma Springs Community Hall.”

The Rotary Club donated $20,000 through their community grant process, which helped pay for the new commercial kitchen in the hall.  Rotary President Jon Parker presented the Springs Community Hall President Seth Dolinsky with the plaque naming the kitchen “The Rotary Kitchen.”

This community space is made possible by all the volunteers who donate their time, energy and skills into making this a local resource that is available for meetings, classes and a whole lot more!

The End is Near

Posted on Updated on

As bad as that post title is given that the 2016 election is nearly here, it also is appropriate when talking about our building renovations (sorry for the scare!).

IMG_1425_HDROur long journey toward renewing the infrastructure of our hall to upgrade the bathrooms, create a commercial kitchen, and refurbish much of the rest of the building (including a new deck at the back!) is nearly complete (see the picture).

We hope to be open for business soon, and after a workday today that attracted about 15 volunteers who worked for much of the day to get things ready, we are nearing that goal rapidly. Those of you who haven’t seen the hall for 6 months or more would be astonished to see it today, and even more so after we finish the back deck and get more finishing touches in the interior complete. Suffice it to say that you will be delighted with the changes, as are we who have been working to accomplish them.

There are so many “thank yous” to hand out, but Seth Dolinsky, our President, is the person to do that as I expect he will once we have completed our renovations. Meanwhile, stay tuned about news of a “Grand Re-Opening” party to re-introduce to both the renovated building as well as the new organization we will be becoming.
